DownloadPlease note that Bullseye Glass is recommended but System 96 glass can be used. In 96, the 2mm colors may not be available but using black and white for the spirals and other elements will work with the green, red and orange background. Another alternative is to use 2mm clear and/or white glass and change the color using frit or enamels.
***Amounts listed below are minimum amounts and do not allow for breakage so having more on hand is recommended.
Standard 3mm:
● Clear 3mm; 12"x12".
● Spring Green 0126, 3mm; 8.5" x 10" . (In 96 Lemongrass is a good match.)
● Transparent Red 1122, 3mm; 8.5" x 10" , 12"x12" for level 3 to cut a single piece rim but it can be cut in multiple pieces which only requires the smaller amount. (In 96, 151 Cherry Red works nicely.)
● Transparent Orange 1125, 3mm; 8.5" x 6" . (In 96, 171 Orange is good.)
● Level 3 only… Transparent Spring Green 3" x 6" .
● Level 3 only… Transparent Yellow 3" x 6" .
● Level 3 only… Transparent light orange 5" x 6" .
Thin 2mm:
● Clear 2mm; 8.5" x 5" .
● Transparent Red 1122, 2mm; 8.5" x 2.5" .
(96; Can use 3mm but it isn’t ideal as detail on the spirals will be lost. Another option is
2mm black.)
● Sunflower Opal 220, 2mm; 8.5" x 5" .
(96: Can use 3mm but it isn’t ideal as detail on the spirals will be lost. Another options is
2mm white.)
● Pumpkin Orange Opal 321 or Orange Opal 0125, 2mm; 8.5" x 2.5" .
(96: Can use 3mm but it isn’t ideal as some detail will be lost. Another option is 2mm white or
black.)
Rods, Murrini & Stringers:
● 6mm Rod: 1 Red opal or transparent red rod. If a transparent rod is used try and find a different color from what is used in the sheet glass so it will stand out a bit. If red is not available then look for opal or transparent orange.
● 1oz/30grams of floral murrini, 1oz/30grams of bullseye style Murrini.
● Three 1mm stringers in at least two opal colors but preferably one each of; Sunflower opal 0220, Orange opal 0321 and Red opal 0124. If 1mm is not available 2mm will do.
● Silver foil approximately 2" x 4" . Can be slightly larger or smaller. Make sure authentic silver is used. Imitation silver will turn black. It can be found at glass studios or even Etsy. It can also be omitted and murrini used instead. Do not use silver clay or silver jewelry findings.
● Two pieces of paper to put the silver foil between.
● A decorative hole punch for the silver foil. Any small shape will do. Look for shapes that are less than 1/2"/1cm. Spiral punches may be difficult to source but check Amazon and Etsy.
● Black enamel paint that can be fired to a full fuse.
● Gold enamel paint that can be fired to a full fuse.
● GlasTac glue, the pink and the blue gel or equivalent. Diluted white craft glue may also work.
● Tile nippers or equivalent for cutting rods and murrini.
● Tea candle or equivalent to bend stringers as well as a lighter or matches.
● Needle nose pliers to hold the stringers but grozing pliers can be used.
● Small pointed paint brush to make tiny dots.
● Tweezers for handling the silver foil.
● Circle cutter but it is possible to cut by hand. .
Make sure to purchase murrini in the glass that you will be working with to avoid issues with compatibility. Some of the suppliers below work exclusively with Bullseye Glass or Oceanside but a few work with both. Many sellers also ship internationally.
