In this class students will learn a variety of fusing, cutting and assembly techniques to create a Fantasy Garden panel. Each step will be demonstrated in detail and students will have a chance to combine the design elements to either duplicate the projects pictured or create their own unique design. This project uses multi-stage assembly methods and incorporates a variety of fusing components including stringers, murrini and silver foil. Decals, stencils and frit are not used. Some glass cutting experience is required but the project can be tailored to match the skill level of each student. Bullseye glass is used but Oceanside glass or any other glass can be used though some color changes may be necessary for some of the elements. Access to a kiln is necessary.
To get the most out of this class active participation is key! There are three session, each two weeks apart, so students have a sufficient amount of time to work on their projects. The first and second session will start with demonstrations of the techniques followed by a short question and answer period. The last session focuses on slumping but is primarily for students to show their progress and get more personalized attention. If a session is missed, the class is recorded and the recording will remain accessible for a minimum of 30 days for students to refer back to.
A few days before the class, an email will be sent out with the Zoom link along with class handouts and any other pertinent information. If you do not receive it or experience any technical issues please contact Class@fusingclasses.com. It is possible our emails will land in your Junk or Spam folder so please make sure our email address is added to your "safe sender's" list.
